ELGIN launched the Sportsman in 1959. Elgin is one of America's oldest watch companies. The Sportsman consisted of 17 jewel imported movements, was water and shock resistance and luminous dials.
It features a matt gold plated steel case produced in Germany that has a charming patina, with matching applique numeral and stick hour markers and hands. The dial is a cool silver with a blueish hue.
The movement runs well, losing slightly over 20 seconds a day - acceptable for a watch of this vintage.
It has a new aftermarket shiny black leather strap.
